The XFL held its first ever draft last night and BYU has now added two more to the pro level. Payton Wilgar and Lorenzo Fauatea are now going to the next level with each going to separate teams to continue their career.
Payton Wilgar
Wilgar was drafted to the Seattle Sea Dragons.
He played in just three games his first season in 2018. In 2019 he played in 13 games and had 54 tackles, three interceptions and one pass break up. His 2020 was nothing short of amazing with him playing in 12 games, 57 tackles, one forced fumble, five quarterback hits, and four pass breakups. 2021 he played in 10 games leaving early with a shoulder injury. In that season he had 57 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and four pass breakups.
This season ended short due to an ankle injury his seven games he played he lead the Cougars on and off the field. He gave life to this Cougar defense and made some big plays when it counted. In those seven games, he had 30 tackles, and one pass breakup.
Lorenzo Fauatea
2017 his first season at BYU he played in three games had four tackles and one pass break up. In 2018 he played in all 13 games and had 13 tackles, two sacks, and one pass break up. His 2019 he played in nine games with 21 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry. The Covid 2020 year he played in just four games and had one pass break up. 2021 he played in five games with four tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. His final season as a Cougar he played in 12 games and had 22 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, three quarterback hits, and one pass break ups.
