Game Break Down

BYU vs. SUU ends with a Cougar 41-16 win. The special team is making their case for being one of the best in the country. BYU’s offense got off to a slow start and then couldn’t be stopped after the second quarter. The offense also made some moves that helped the scoring game now they have to make some adjustments to their run game. This defense was once again amazing and it took SUU time to figure out how to get past them.

Studs

Isaac Rex TE

Rex came back this week with a vengeance and showed why he is a weapon for the Cougar offense. He had four receptions for 112 yards and one touchdown. Rex is going to be a big target as the season goes on and one that Slovis can rely on drive after drive.

Ben Bywater LB

Ben Bywater had another huge week and this week caused some chaos. He had seven tackles and one tackle for loss. Bywater is a leader on this Cougar defense and today he led them to another great game.

Marcus Mckenzie ST

Mckenzie who is a true freshman blew up anything that SUU tried to do on special teams today. He had two tackles and one fumble recovery on special teams. Mckenzie is fast and can make some big tackles which will be huge for the rest of the season.

Kedon Slovis QB

Kedon Slovis had the day that Cougar fans expected him to have. He made up for last week and showed Cougar Nation that he was what they thought he would be. Slovis went 22/33 for 348 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. He also rushed for one attempt on six yards and one touchdown. Slovis has now been the leader that BYU needed on offense and should look like this all season long.

Duds

Aidan Robbins RB

Robbins has not been what Cougar Nation thought he would be. He has only been seen on opening drives and hasn’t shown great production. Robbins is getting the same opportunities that other running backs are from the offensive line and he can’t capitalize. He will need a strong showing before he can make his name known at BYU.

Hobbs Nyberg STR

Hobbs Nyberg hasn’t been the returner he has been in seasons past. This year he has either let the ball go over his head to pin the offense deeper or has slipped on the field. Nyberg will have to pick his game up or he will be losing his job to Parker Kingston.
