Byu vs SMU

BYU will take on SMU this Friday at 7 pm EST on ESPN2. The Cougars come in 1-0 and SMU in 2-0, so one team will get their first season loss this Friday. BYU is ready to take on SMU for the fifth time in school history and aiming for its fifth win. SMU is looking for their third and first wins over the Cougars.

Keep the defense flying around and the energy going

This defense came out swinging even without their leader on the sideline. They were down Ben Bywater due to a career-ending injury and then Jay Hill after he suffered a heart attack. Hill coached from the press box this past weekend and this weekend it looks like it will be the same. No matter what Saturday had in store for them they were flying around and keeping the sideline alive. So if they can keep that up this weekend will be a win for the defense and hopefully the Cougars.

Let Jake Retzlaff loose

Jake Retzlaff will be the starter for the season which is great for many aspects and the main one not starting over for the receivers and line who have a great relationship with him. This was an issue at the end of the season last year of not letting him play his full game so they need to let him loose. When Retzlaff gets loose he can and will be dangerous and that is how the Cougars will win games this year.

Score every time we are on offense

The offense has to score on every drive they are on the field and this is because the more reps they get in know the more ready they will be for conference play. BYU has always been the one who doesn’t like to run up the scoreboard but it’s time to run it up a little bit. Get some new plays in and let this offense just run straight-up two-minute drills all game long.
