BYU vs Arkansas

BYU vs. Arkansas will be the Cougar’s first real matchup of the season. The past two weeks have shown what they can do outside of Power 5 play. It was a great way for them to show their strengths and weaknesses to hopefully improve before they take on the Razorbacks this Saturday in a Night matchup.

BYU

Offense

The Cougar offense has to come out and strike first this weekend. There are many things that they have to do to come away with the victory. Them coming out strong scoring a touchdown and then trusting the defense to give them the ball back. The run game for BYU has to be on point and must put up at least 150 yards over the four quarters. This means that the offensive line has to be on the top of their game and not let anyone through the line early. Finally, Kedon Slovis has to trust his line so that he can stay in the pocket and make throws downfield.

Defense

This BYU defense has been all over the field and has had a few mistakes this year. The defense doesn’t need to make many changes and continue doing what they are doing. This week though they can’t lose sight of the quarterback as he is a duel threat and can run. So they should have someone watching that quarterback and making sure he doesn’t leave the pocket.

Special Teams

Finally for the Coguars to come away the win their special teams must be solid, on point, and ready to make some big hits. This week Will Ferrin can’t miss a field goal or extra point. Ryan Rehkow has to continue to pin teams behind the 20-yard line and finally, the returners have to put up some big yardage.

Arkansas

Arkansas is from Fayetteville, Arkansas, and plays in Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The Razorbacks came into Provo last year and took down BYU 52-35 last season.

Offense

This Arkansas offense can hurt a team from any part of the field. The offensive line is big and will push the Cougars around if BYU doesn’t stay strong and fight to keep them behind the line of scrimmage. KJ Jefferson hurts defense with not only his arm but his legs. BYU has to keep him in the pocket to not give up any more yards.

Defense

The Razorback defense is big and hits hard. This is great for them as they can keep teams behind the line of scrimmage and out of the endzone. The Cougar offense will have to fight hard in order to win this game. The Arkansas line is quick off the line and to the quarterback.
