The 2023 Football Season is just around the corner. With fall camp starting in just a couple of weeks let’s do some position previews for the BYU Football team. Today I will talk about the BYU Tight End group and the Offensive line will be in the next article.
Isaac Rex
Isaac Rex is a 6’6 255 lbs junior from San Clemente, California. Rex is set to the be the starter this fall when BYU kicks off. His first season as a Cougar he played in three games and had one reception for 15 yards. Rex in his second year he played in 12 games with 37 receptions for 429 yards and 12 touchdowns. 2021 he played in 12 games with 28 receptions for 191 yards and three touchdowns. The 2022 season he played in 13 games with 22 receptions for 320 yards and six touchdowns.
Jackson Bowers
Jackson Bowers is a 6’5 245 lbs freshman from Mesa, Arizona. He will either be second or third-string this upcoming season.
Masen Wake
Masen Wake is a 6’1 260 lbs senior from Cedar Hills, Utah. Wake will be second or third string for the Cougars. In his first season he played in 12 games and rushed for six yards on three attempts. 2020 he played in 12 games with eight receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown. His 2021 season he played in 11 games with 14 receptions for 148 yards and one touchdown. Last season Wake played in 11 games for 10 receptions for 42 yards.
Mason Fakahua
Mason Fakahua is a 6’2 240 lbs junior from Cedar City, Utah. In 2021 he played in nine games with no stats. Last season he rushed for 14 yards on seven attempts.
Ray Paulo
Ray Paulo is a 6’3 255 lbs junior from Pago Pago, American Samoa. He transferred from Allan Hancock College where he played on both sides of the ball in 2022 for 11 games.
Nason Coleman
Nason Coleman is a 6’3 235 lbs freshman from Chandler, Arizona.
Anthony Olsen
Anthony Olsen is a 6’4 235 lbs freshman from Salt Lake City, Utah.
Ethan Erickson
Ethan Erickson is a 6’5 240 lbs sophomore from Laie, Hawaii. He played in 11 games last season and had one reception for 14 yards and one touchdown.
Mata’ava Ta’ase
Mata’ava Ta’ase is a 6’3 255 lbs junior from Mesa Arizona. He is an SUU transfer.
