NFL OTAs have been ongoing for a couple of weeks now ahead of this 2023 season. BYU has many players participating after playing last season in the league for many teams. Other BYU players are fighting for a spot on a new team. The rest are rookies who are looking for a team to spend their rookie season with. The Cougars then have players who are still looking for a home after being released from their team from last season.
OTAs are a great time for players to secure a spot ahead of training camps and also potentially find a home for seasons to come. Right now the Cougars have 21 players in the league on teams and many others looking for a place to call home. BYU has six rookies who have played some amazing college careers and are looking to play their first season in the NFL.
Arizona Cardinals
- Ty’son Williams RB is currently 4th string running back for the Cardinals. He is a returner on this team and will have to fight to see the field this season.
Atlanta Falcons
- Tyler Allgeier RB is the starter and should be after his play last season. He also rushed for 1,000 yards for the Falcons
Buffalo Bills
- Zayne Anderson S spent last season with the Chiefs and is presently listed as the 4th string. Anderson has been in the league for a couple of years now and is still struggling to find a place to call home for more than just a season.
Carolina Panthers
- Brady Christensen OL is a returner for the Panthers offensive line. He is currently listed as a LG at the starting position.
Cleveland Browns
- Sione Takitaki LB is also returning for the Browns and is also listed as a starter for this upcoming season.
Dallas Cowboys
- D’Angelo Mandell CB is one of the rookies looking to continue his career and is presently listed as a 4th stringer with the Cowboys.
Indianapolis Colts
- Blake Freeland OT was drafted to the Colts and has been showing out so far. He should find his home here with the Colts and continue to grow as an OT. Freeland is currently listed as a 2nd stringer in the left tackle position.
Jacksonville Jaguars
- Kaleb Hayes CB is another UDFA who will also be looking for his home. He is currently listed as the 4th stringer so he has some work ahead of him.
Kansas City Chiefs
- Matt Bushman TE returning to the Chiefs after spending last season on the practice squad. He is presently listed as the 5th tight end so he has another uphill battle to climb this season.
Los Angeles Chargers
- Michael Davis CB returning to the Chargers and is also currently listed as a starter after the season he had.
Los Angeles Rams
- Puka Nacua WR was drafted to the Rams and is already turning heads. He is presently listed as a 2nd stringer and could easily move into that starting position if he continues to show out like he has.
Miami Dolphins
- Chris Brooks RB is another rookie trying to fight to stay playing football. He is currently listed as the 5th string running back.
Minnesota Vikings
- Jaren Hall QB was drafted to the Vikings this past April and has been showing what work he put in this offseason. He is listed as the 3rd string quarterback and will continue to look to stay with the Vikings as they look for a future quarterback.
- Khyiris Tonga DL is returning to the Vikings after playing for a couple of teams in 2022. He is presently listed as the starting nose tackle in this Vikings defense.
New Orleans Saints
- Taysom Hill QB is a returner for the Saints and will be playing a number of positions this season for them. He is currently listed as the 2nd string tight end.
- Jamaal Williams RB played last season for the Lions and rushed for 1,000 yards. He is presently listed as the 2nd string running back for the Saints.
New York Jets
- Zach Wilson QB will return to the Jets and will be backup to Aaron Rodgers. He will have a season to grow properly as a future starting NFL quarterback.
Pittsburgh Steelers
- Chris Wilcox CB will play another season in the NFL with another team. Wilcox is currently listed as the 4th string CB for the Steelers.
San Francisco 49ers
- Fred Warner LB will return as a starter for the 49ers.
Tennessee Titans
- James Empey C will hopefully find his home in Tennessee after spending last season hoping from team to team and not knowing if he would find another home. He is presently listed as 4th string at his position.
Washington Commanders
- Dax Milne WR will return to the Commanders and fight to see the field as a WR. He is listed now as a starting punt returner.
