BYU Football may have had a rough season but they did have some good stats on the board at the end. Check out the top five juniors. This looks at how many games they played in, what they did for the team, and their position, and will also look at what they could do for BYU next season.

5. Ben Bywater LB

Ben Bywater is a 6-3 235 lbs junior from Salt Lake City, Utah. In his first season, he had eight tackles. The next season he had seven tackles. Bywater’s third season he had 102 tackles, one sack, and one quarterback hit. In the 2022 season, he had 98 tackles, one sack, three interceptions, one touchdown, and two pass breakups. This past season he played in four games and had 32 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass deflection. Bywater makes this list after what he did in those four games before he injured his shoulder and left to have surgery. He also then became a coach on the sideline and helped BYU Football from there.

4. Keanu Hill WR

Keanu Hill is a 6-4 215 lbs junior from Bedford, Texas this will be his fifth season as a Cougar. Hill will also be one of the three to see the field as a starter. During his first season, he played in three games with three receptions for 40 yards. In the 2020 season, he played in eight games with four receptions for 70 yards and one touchdown. During 2021 he played in 13 games with 18 receptions for 343 yards and two touchdowns. During the 2022 season, he played in 13 games with 36 receptions 572 yards, and seven touchdowns. This past season he played in eight games and had 12 receptions for 187 yards and one touchdown. Keanu Hill is number four because he didn’t have as big a season as many thought he would.

3. Tyler Batty DL

Tyler Batty is a 6-5 273 lbs junior from Payson, Utah. Batty has played three seasons for the Cougars and led the defense last season when others went down with injuries. During his first season at BYU, he put up 13 tackles, four sacks, and three quarterback hits. In 2021, he had 432 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, and two quarterback hits. During the 2022 season, he had 52 tackles, one forced fumble, and four quarterback hits. During this past season, he played in all 12 games with 57 tackles, nine tackles for loss, one sack, and two forced fumbles. Batty gets number three as he fought through this season and showed his worth at the defensive line position.

2. Jakob Robinson CB

Jakob Robinson is a 5-11 170 lbs junior from Orem, Utah. He transferred from Utah State. In his first season at BYU, he played in 12 games with 29 tackles, three interceptions, and four pass breakups. During his second year as a Cougar, he played in 13 games with 51 tackles, one interception, one quarterback hit, and five pass breakups. This past season he played in all 12 games with 59 tackles and one tackle for loss. Robinson comes in at number two as he helped the defense stay sharp and worked alongside some amazing people to win big games.

1. Isaac Rex TE

Isaac Rex is a 6’6 255 lbs junior from San Clemente, California. Rex is set to be the starter this fall when BYU kicks off. In his first season as a Cougar, he played in three games and had one reception for 15 yards. Rex in his second year played in 12 games with 37 receptions for 429 yards and 12 touchdowns. In 2021 he played in 12 games with 28 receptions for 191 yards and three touchdowns. In the 2022 season, he played in 13 games with 22 receptions for 320 yards and six touchdowns. During the 2023 season, he played in all 12 games for the Cougars. In those 12 games, he had 34 receptions for 422 receptions for three touchdowns. Rex has announced that he will forgo his final season of BYU Football and enter the NFL draft. He gets the number one spot here as he did the most not just this season but over his three years.
