BYU football kicks off in 24 days and starts fall camp this week. The cornerbacks aren’t quite as experienced as the other units on this team but they do have something to build off of from last year. This group is thin so injuries have to be kept to a minimum. They also have to work on experience and building up that as some will leave this year due to graduation.
Jakob Robinson
Jakob Robinson is a 5-11 170 lbs senior from Orem, Utah, and a Utah State Transfer. His first year at BYU in 2021 he played in 12 games and had 29 tackles, seven pass deflections, and three interceptions. The following year he played in all 13 games and had 51 tackles, six pass deflections, and one interception, Last year he played in all 12 games and had 59 tackles, 11 pass deflections, four interceptions, and one touchdown. He is the leader of the Cougar Cornerbacks.
Mory Bamba
Bamba is a 6-3 193 lbs junior from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. He played in five games in his first season in 2022 and had one tackle. Last year he played in seven games and had six tackles and one pass deflection. Bamba can be a true leader if he steps up this year and backs up Robinson.
Marcus Mckenzie
Marcus Mckenzie is a 5-11 185 lbs sophomore from St. George, Utah. Last season he played in six games and had seven tackles. This year, it will be good for him to learn to take the reins and be a part of the starting rotation on defense.
Jayden Dunlap
Dunlap is a 6-0 180 lbs junior from Carson, California, and a Cerritos College transfer.
Kevin Doe
Kevin Doe is a 6-3 205 lbs freshman from Salt Lake City, Utah.
Evan Johnson
Johnson is a 6-0 180 lbs sophomore from Monterey, California. In 2022 he played in two games and had one pass deflection. Last year he played in four games and had two tackles.
Therrian Alexander
Therrian Alexander is a 6-2 170 lbs freshman from Ellenwood, Georgia.
Marque Collins
Collins is a 5-11 175 lbs senior from Sacramento, California, and a Weber State transfer.
Jonathan Kabeya
Jonathan Kabeya is a 5-10 173 lbs freshman from Euless, Texas.
