The Buffalo Bills have agreed to a three-year contract with pass rusher Bradley Chubb shortly after his release from the Miami Dolphins.

Chubb’s deal is worth $43.5 million and could reach $52.5 million with incentives, including $29 million in guaranteed money. His signing gives Buffalo an experienced edge rusher as the franchise reshapes its defense ahead of the upcoming season.

Productive Season Leads to New Opportunity

Chubb is coming off a strong 2025 campaign in Miami, where he led the Dolphins with 8.5 sacks while appearing in all 17 games. The veteran linebacker also served as a team captain and earned recognition from local media for his professionalism and accessibility.

Despite the solid production, Miami opted to release Chubb, clearing significant salary-cap space as part of a broader roster overhaul. The move allowed Buffalo to quickly bring him in as it searches for greater consistency in its pass rush.

Career Marked by High-Level Play and Injuries

Originally selected with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, Chubb has recorded 48 career sacks across eight NFL seasons.

He posted one of his best years in 2023 with 11 sacks but suffered a severe knee injury in Week 17 that included damage to his ACL, meniscus, and patellar tendon. The injury forced him to miss the entire 2024 season before returning in 2025.

Even after returning, Chubb remained a disruptive presence, generating pressure on over 10 percent of his pass-rush snaps while frequently drawing double teams.

Key Piece of Buffalo’s Defensive Transition

Buffalo continues to reshape its defense following the departure of longtime head coach Sean McDermott. Defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard is expected to rely on Chubb as a starting edge rusher opposite Greg Rousseau.

The signing follows several recent attempts by the Bills to bolster their pass rush, including past additions such as Von Miller and Joey Bosa. With Chubb now in the fold, Buffalo hopes its revamped defensive front can generate more consistent pressure moving forward.
