The Buffalo Bills have had a roller coaster of a season. They were sitting at 6-6 looking like they were in danger of missing the playoffs. The team rallied and won the AFC East yet again. Previous playoff appearances have ended in heartbreak for this team. Can they finally make it back to a Super Bowl? Here is the Buffalo Bills playoff preview.
Buffalo Bills Playoff Preview
After almost missing the playoffs, the Bills nabbed the second seed in the AFC. Josh Allen is the biggest reason why. While he has been turnover-prone, he also makes jaw-dropping plays that propel the team to victory. They are guaranteed two home games in the playoffs and get a good draw having to play the Steelers likely with TJ Watt. A date with the Kansas City Chiefs is looming and Baltimore is going to be a tough out. However, this team has proven that they can win against top teams but they have to do it in the playoffs.
Buffalo Bills Playoff Preview: Why They Will Win
Josh Allen can carry this offense at times. However, this season has seen the emergence of James Cook in the offense. If Cook can have some big games, it will take a lot of pressure off Allen to make hero throws. The Bills can control the clock and keep opposing offenses off the field. In the passing game, Stefon Diggs can win against anyone and rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid has emerged as a top target in the offense. On the defensive side, they have had many injuries but are playing a lot better as of late. If they can get a couple of key stops, Allen and the offense can do the rest.
Buffalo Bills Playoff Preview: Why They Won’t Win
It’s easy to see where the Bills will run into trouble. If Allen turns the ball over multiple times on bad throws, it will likely spell doom for the team. Against inferior opponents in the regular season, teams can get away with a turnover-heavy game. In the playoffs, teams will make you pay. If the running game isn’t working and the defense struggles to get stops, Allen will likely feel pressure to make a play and be more careless with the football. A mistake-filled game will likely be the downfall of this team.
Playoff X-Factor
Buffalo Bills playoff preview X-factor: Wide receivers not named Stefon Diggs
Gabe Davis is dealing with a knee injury and he isn’t guaranteed to play during wild card weekend. This leaves Khalil Shakir, Trent Sherfield, and Deonte Harty as the other options. There is only so much that Kincaid and Diggs can do. If teams decide to focus on those two, who is going to step up and make a play? Davis has been known to be a volatile player. He has a game where he looks like a top-20 receiver and then follows it up with a zero-catch game. If they can get consistency out of someone else, the offense will be devastating.
