Thanks to the Buffalo Bills’ exceptional game on Sunday, Nov. 17, they have been the only team to hand the Kansas City Chiefs a loss so far. Their first loss!
This is the second time the Bills’ defense has begun the game with an interception and clinched their win with another.
It all started on the game’s second play when safety Taylor Rapp intercepted Patrick Mahomes from the line of scrimmage.
Linebacker Terrel Bernard capped the game off by intercepting a long-distance throw downfield by Mahomes. Will they have what it takes to lead their team to the #1 Seed?
How the Offense Kept Mahomes Sidelined At Time of Possession
One key to the Bills’ success in this game was sustaining long, time-consuming drives that ended in touchdowns to keep Mahomes off the field.
Josh Allen threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to wideout Curtis Samuel off of a 10-play, 83-yard drive, taking six minutes off the clock and putting the Bills up 23-14.
After Mahomes drive, which ended in a touchdown pass to tight end Noah Gray, the lead was cut to 23-21.
The Bills drove down the field again but faced a critical decision on 4th and two in Chiefs’ territory.
The Bills could have opted to kick the field goal to extend the lead to 26-21 and risk having to play defense against Mahomes, but they realized they did not want to hand Kansas City another comeback win.
Instead, the Bills went for the knockout punch, which resulted in a game-sealing touchdown run by Allen and a late interception that put the game on ice for the Bills, 30-21.
Can the Buffalo Bills Climb Up to the #1 Seed?
Yes, we know the Bills seem to have the Chief’s number in the regular season, but the team understands the goal is to go 1-0 against them in the playoffs.
Currently, the Bills are 0-3 in the dance against the Chiefs, but this year’s team appears to have a different DNA.
It’s no longer just the “Josh Allen” show. The Bills now have a multitude of cast members who can all do their roles by committee.
Every receiver who needs to make a catch makes their catch. If James Cook or Ray Davis needs a big run, they will move those chains. In this offense, “Everybody Eats.”
Having a Bye This Week
Having this week off will surely help everyone on the team. With all the injuries, it is the perfect time for all the players to get some rest.
It’s amazing that the Bills were able to hand the Chiefs their first loss of the season without Dalton Kincaid, Keon Coleman, and even Spencer Brown on the right side of the line.
Hopefully, they will return some of the sidelined players for their next match-up against the San Francisco 49ers in week 13.
It’s even more amazing how underachieving the 49ers have been this season, as they are only (5-5) and lost a stunner in Santa Clara to the Seattle Seahawks.
Let’s hope the Bills can bring the 49ers another loss in Week 13.
It will surely help the team in their quest for the #1 Seed.
