Injury challenges persist for the Cleveland Browns as quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson exits Sunday’s 29-12 defeat to the Denver Broncos with a concussion.

Garrett’s Shoulder Struggles

Thompson-Robinson’s concussion adds to the Browns’ woes, with star pass-rusher Myles Garrett revealing a shoulder issue during the game. Post-match, Garrett required assistance to put on his shirt and then had his shoulder placed in a sling by trainers in the Cleveland locker room.

“I’m not going to come out unless it’s falling off — it’s already falling off,” Garrett said of the shoulder. “I want to win just as much as the rest of these guys. … I’m giving them every ounce I’ve got, I don’t care how I’m feeling.”

After the game, Garrett mentioned plans to examine his shoulder after the Browns travel to Los Angeles. The team will practice there this week, opting not to return to Cleveland before their upcoming clash with the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Injury List Grows: Ward, Cooper, and More

In Denver, the Browns were further handicapped by the absence of Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward, sidelined due to a shoulder injury. The injury list extended as top wide receiver Amari Cooper left the game in the second half following a rib-jarring hit. However, X-rays showed no negative results, according to Browns coach Kevin Stefanski.

Injury Impact on Starting Lineup

Thompson-Robinson, starting his third game in place of the season-long injured Deshaun Watson, suffered a concussion in the third quarter. A flag was thrown on Denver linebacker Baron Browning for roughing the passer after hitting Thompson-Robinson during a third-down scramble. The quarterback remained down for several minutes and was escorted to the injury tent.

Quarterback Shuffle: P.J. Walker and Joe Flacco

P.J. Walker, with two starts for the Browns this season, stepped in for Thompson-Robinson. Notably, the Browns now have another quarterback option in 38-year-old Joe Flacco, who won Super Bowl XLVII with the Baltimore Ravens and was signed by Cleveland last week.

“I’m confident in my ability to play,” Flacco stated ahead of his first practice with the Browns last Wednesday. “I’ll give my best, no matter the role or where this journey takes me.”

Despite Flacco’s capability, Stefanski refrained from confirming whether he would start if Thompson-Robinson is ruled out for the Rams game. Regarding Thompson-Robinson’s status, Stefanski commented, “Let’s see how he does this week with the protocol.”

Thompson Robinson’s Performance Before Injury

Thompson-Robinson, drafted in the fifth round from UCLA, had thrown 14 of 29 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown before his injury. He led the Browns on a game-winning field goal drive in their recent 13-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
