San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is having himself a season, and it has only been four games. Though the record for the 49ers may not look like it, the offense is doing well, and a lot of it is thanks to Purdy. Here is a look at the first four games for the 49ers quarterback, and why 49ers fans should not overact to the 2-2 record.

Brock Purdy in the First Four Games

Despite having many star players out Purdy has been off to a very strong season. Even in the loss against the Los Angeles Rams, the third-year quarterback had a good game. In just four games Purdy has completed 84 passes for 1,130 yards and five touchdowns, according to Pro Football Reference.  Though he is a passer first Purdy does very well at scrambling when he needs to. Purdy has rushed the ball 18 times this year for 75 yards. Though he has not scored a touchdown he has rushed the ball for eight first downs.

While the 49ers are known to do well with the yards after the catch this is something the team has struggled with this year. Purdy has been throwing further, leading to first downs and touchdowns. According to Jeff Deeney of Pro Football Focus Brock Purdy has 257 more air yards passing than any quarterback in the NFL this season. Though it will be good for the 49ers to get the yards after the catch going, they have not needed it as much as they have in the past.

Through four weeks Purdy has the second most passing yards among quarterbacks in the league. In first for passing yards it is Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith, with 1,182 yards. If Purdy keeps up what he is doing, he could lead the league in passing yards week after week.

Next Four Games

Arizona Cardinals

The 49ers are currently 2-2, Second in the NFC West. The next four games for San Francisco will be important. Next up the 49ers will face the Arizona Cardinals. Getting a Divisional win is crucial for the 49ers as they look to get back on track after a slow start to the season. They have already lost to one NFC West opponent, the Rams.

The 49ers offense came out of the game against the Patriots fairly healthy. With wide receiver Deebo Samuel and his second game back and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk starting to pick up the pace, this offense can put up 30 points a game. 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings is also having a big year, and if he keeps doing what he has been, the passing game should not slow down, only improve.

Seattle Seahawks

Following the week five matchup, the 49ers will then face the Seattle Seahawks for Thursday Night Football. Hopefully, the 49ers come out healthy against the Cardinals due a short week after. The Seattle Seahawks only have one loss this season and if the 49ers can win their next two games they could possibly take the lead in the NFC West.

Kansas City Chiefs

While short weeks are hard, the benefit of Thursday Night Football is that the 49ers will get a decent rest before having to face the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are injured on offense but seem to be the Achilles’ heel for the 49ers. Getting that win will be huge. The way Purdy is playing, it is possible for the 49ers to win.

Dallas Cowboys

After that, on Oct. 27 the 49ers will face the Dallas Cowboys. This is Sunday Night Football, and both teams need to win following a slow start to the season. The game against the Cowboys will take the 49ers into the bye week. They can then regroup and hopefully get numerous players back from injury.

Still a Dominant Team

Aside from the week two game against the Minnesota Vikings the 49ers offense has been tough to stop. If Purdy and the offensive players remain healthy there is no reason that this team cannot win the next four games. This could bring them to their bye week being 6-2. Of course, to win it has to be good football from all sides of the ball, but right now Purdy is having a stellar season and the 49ers will still be a dominant team in the NFC.
