Big 12 Football for 2024 will be exciting with 16 teams and who will compete for the championship. Check out the Houston schedule below.
Team Overview for 2023
Houston finished the season 2-7 in conference and 4-8 overall during their first season in the Big 12. They averaged 360 yards per game on offense and 423 on defense. The Cougars will have to put up more yards on offense to finish games. On the defensive side, they will have to allow fewer yards and stop the run game to finish games and win on that side of the ball.
Schedule
UNLV
The last time these two met on the gridiron was in 2014 when Houston won 47-14. This series sits at three games and Houston has won all three games. This time around won’t be any different when they will win the fourth game of this series and the first one of 2024.
Oklahoma
A matchup of the Big 12 schools but this one will count on the conference record. The last time they faced off was in 2019 and Oklahoma won 49-13. This series is at 3-1 with the Sooners holding the three wins. Houston will lose this game and be at 1-1.
Rice
These two played last year and Rice won 43-41. Houston has won 33 of the 45 matchups over the years. This time around Houston will win again and be 2-1 in 2024.
Cincinnati
Houston and Cincinnati went head to head last year and the Bearcats came out on top 24-14. These two have played 19 times over the years due to playing in the same conference more than once over their histories. The Cougars are predicted to lose this matchup.
Iowa State
Houston and Iowa State have never met before on the Gridiron so this will be a good way to kick off the Big 12 conference play of 2024. Houston will lose this game and be at 2-3.
TCU
TCU beat Houston last year when they faced off and TCU won 36-13 in 2023. This series is tied at 13 games a piece. Houston will lose this matchup and be at 2-4 in 2024.
Kansas (Arrowhead)
Kansas and Houston last faced off in 2022 when Kansas won 48-30. This series has been played four times and Kansas has all four wins. The Cougars will also lose this game in 2024.
Utah
Utah and Houston last faced off in 1978 and Houston won 42-25. This series is also at four games and Houston has won all four. This time around though they will lose and be at 2-6 in 2024.
Kansas State
These two faced off last season and Kansas State won 41-0. That game is the only time these two have met on the football field. This year the Cougars will lose and have no way of making a bowl game.
Arizona
The Wildcats will return home on Nov 16 to take on Houston. These two last faced off in 2018 and Houston won 45-18. Houston holds the overall wins in just four games. The Cougars are expected to lose this matchup.
Baylor
Baylor will take on the Cougars again this season and see the same outcome when they win again. Last year Houston won 25-24 and added to their 30 matchups over the years.
BYU
Houston and BYU last faced off in 2020 and the Cougars won 43-26. This matchup has been played three times and BYU has all three wins. Houston will lose this game and finish the season 3-9.
